About This Project

What will your addition look like?

These homeowners on Wood Lane chose to turn their need for structural foundation upgrades into an excuse to add a second floor to their home… underneath the current structure! This home had a short, 7′ tall basement and a large but unusable 4′ tall attic crawlspace.  The home is also located in a slide zone, rendering it a high risk for landslide and flood damage. With Crafted Earth leading the structural team in partnership with Building Solutions’ architecture team, we lifted this entire house to create a full height, 10′ tall basement addition and the necessary structural upgrades to protect the house from landslide damage. Our design saved the clients over $30,000 in concrete costs by utilizing existing conditions in retaining wall design. Smart design’s infinite possibilities can reform your space in ways you thought were only dreams.
